Please help keep DuPage County Forest Preserve protected lands in a non-industrial state by quickly sending an eMail to the DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioners.  Tell them that you OPPOSE the use of Forest Preserve lands for industrial purposes, especially the use of the McKee Marsh area of Blackwell Forest Preserve for a Fleet Maintenance complex.

Request them to stop plans for construction in fall of 2009 and to find a location that is not on Forest Preserve protected land for the Fleet Maintenance Complex. 

Please follow the 3-simple steps below to send an eMail to the Forest Preserve Board of Commissioners.  We have provided their eMail addresses as well as a suggested message.  Please edit the text as you see fit after composing your eMail.  We encourage you to personalize the message.

1. Start a "New Message" in your Email program then "Copy & Paste" the following DuPage County Forest Preserve Board of Commissioner’s eMail addresses from the box below into the "To:" list-box of your eMail program, i.e., Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, etc.:

2. Now compose your message to the DuPage County Forest Preserve Board of Commissioners from within your eMail program.  You can "Copy & Paste" the following suggested/example message from the box below into the body-section of your eMail program or just write your own.   Feel free to edit the template message to fit your own opinions after copying.  We highly recommend that you compose your own letter if possible.

   If you are a registered voter in DuPage County, indicate that in your email message.

   For examples of what others have written in the past you can read their letters here.

   Don't forget to add your name and address to the end of the eMail.  Also you may want to use the "Re:" line below as the eMail "Subject" line but we encourage you to use your own to make sure it is read:

To: DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioners: Re: Opposition to Fleet Maintenance Complex in the McKee Marsh area of Blackwell Forest Preserve The purpose of this email is to request that you register formal opposition to the planned construction of a Fleet Maintenance complex in Blackwell Forest Preserve. As residents of the DuPage County, we find it disturbing that the Forest Preserve Board of Commissioners are considering use of Forest Preserve land for industrial purposes.  Other sites have not been considered for this project, nor has a review of the fiscal feasibility of all Forest Preserve employees driving to and from the Blackwell Forest preserve at the beginning and end of each shift.  This project, as planned will have a negative impact on the condition of Mack Road, a road that is maintained by County unincorporated resident tax dollars. We understand that funding for this project is, in large part, provided by a wetland mitigation agreement with the City of Chicago.  According to Mayor Daley, the purpose of the mitigation funding is “to create and maintain 90 acres of new, high-quality, publicly accessible wetlands within DuPage County West Branch Forest preserve…”  Use of these funds to build a Fleet Maintenance complex is not acceptable! As a voter and a taxpayer we urge you to vote to stop the start of construction on the Fleet Maintenance complex.  We further urge you to find a location for this complex that is not on "green" Forest Preserve land that is meant for public enjoyment. <Add your Name & Address here>
