Please send a letter to DuPage County Board Members Today and ask them to vote AGAINST the Mega-Church Conditional-Use Permit

Please help yourself and your neighbors by quickly sending an eMail to the DuPage County Board Members who will be voting on this issue on February 10th.   Request them to register their opposition to the request for a Conditional Use for a Religious Institution and a Planned Unit Development for a 21-acre tract between Roosevelt and Purnell Roads.  This is probably your last chance to make a difference.  If you haven't already read the details about this project, you can read them here.  This vote was originally scheduled for January 27th but was rescheduled at the last minute in order for the County Board to review a recent additional information from the DuPage Department of Transportation (DuDOT).

Please follow the 3-simple steps below to send an eMail to the DuPage County Board members.  We have provided their eMail addresses as well as a suggested message.  Please edit the text as you see fit after composing your eMail.

  1. Start a "New Message" in your Email program then "Copy & Paste" the following DuPage County Board Member eMail addresses from the box below into the "To:" list-box of your eMail program, i.e., Outlook, Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, etc.:

Re: Opposition to ZBA Petition No. Z08-037A

The purpose of this email is to request that you register formal opposition to the approval of Conditional Use for a Religious Institution and Conditional Use for a Planned Development as requested by the Resurrection Church between Purnell and Roosevelt Roads when it comes before the County Board.

As residents of the affected area, we find it disturbing that the Petitioner has proposed such a large-scale development that is completely out of character with the surrounding area. The adverse operational impacts to this estate-residential neighborhood are very real and threaten both quality of life and property values.

Over the past few years many residential neighborhoods have seen the irreversible negative impacts that large scale religious institutions have wrought. Homeowners from Wayne Township and those along Swift Road in Lombard, now suffer from the effects of the County approving Conditional Use applications despite the Petitioner NOT meeting the burden of proof regarding the very standards set in place in the County Ordinance. Testimony presented by the West-Win Homeowners' Association clearly shows this.

This isn't about the U.S. Constitution 1st or 14th amendments. It's about County government enforcing its own zoning ordinance 37-1413.5 "STANDARDS FOR CONDITIONAL USES"— that the granting of any conditional use is in harmony with the general purpose and intent of this chapter, and will not be injurious to the neighborhood, detrimental to the public welfare, or in conflict with the county's comprehensive plan for development. The testimony given by the West-Win Homeowners' Association, its experts, and nearby residents, clearly shows that the standards for conditional use have not been met by the petitioner.

As a voter and a taxpayer we look to our elected officials to vigorously enforce the Standards for all Conditional Use applications.
